Understanding the laws of nature—such as the relationship between electricity and magnetic forces—empowers us to innovate, solve global challenges, and improve the quality of life for societies everywhere.
What This Lesson Covers
In this introductory lesson, we will explore the foundational bridge between electricity and magnetism. We will move through three key phases of understanding:
- Foundational Definitions: Clarifying the core language of the field, including the concepts of magnetic flux, field density, and the international units used to measure them.
- Scientific Discovery: Revisiting the historic "Oersted Discovery" which proved that moving charges create magnetic fields, and exploring the unique nature of magnetic poles.
- Geometric Applications: Understanding how the orientation of a surface relative to a magnetic field changes the amount of "flow" (flux) passing through it.
By the end of this lesson, you will possess the conceptual framework necessary to analyze how magnetic fields behave in a
three-dimensional space.
